Policy on Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct

Commitment to Research Integrity

The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the COPE Flowcharts when investigating allegations of research or publication misconduct. All concerns are handled fairly, confidentially, and transparently to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are expected to carefully read and comply with the journal's Author Guidelines, Publication Ethics Policy, and all editorial requirements before submitting a manuscript. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that their work is original, ethically conducted, accurately reported, and free from any form of research misconduct.

Authors are responsible for:

  • Following the journal's ethical and editorial policies.

  • Ensuring the originality and authenticity of their research.

  • Providing accurate and complete research data.

  • Obtaining all required ethical approvals and informed consent.

  • Cooperating fully during any misconduct investigation.

Investigation of Misconduct

The Editorial Office investigates all allegations of research or publication misconduct in accordance with the COPE Flowcharts and internationally accepted ethical practices. Where necessary, authors may be requested to provide original data, ethics approval documents, informed consent forms, or other supporting evidence.

Allegations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Plagiarism and self-plagiarism.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication.

  • Data fabrication or falsification.

  • Image manipulation.

  • Authorship disputes.

  • Citation manipulation.

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest.

  • Unethical research involving humans or animals.

Editorial Action

If research misconduct is confirmed, the journal reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action, including:

  • Rejection of the manuscript.

  • Publication of a correction or erratum.

  • Issuance of an Expression of Concern.

  • Retraction of the published article.

  • Notification of the authors' institution, employer, or funding agency where appropriate.

The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) follows the COPE Flowcharts for handling publication ethics issues and misconduct investigations.
