The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) follows the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and are willing to take public responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published work. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and agree to its publication.
To qualify for authorship, contributors should:
Make substantial contributions to the conception, design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of the study.
Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
Accept responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the published work.
Individuals who contribute to a study but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgements section. Contributions such as technical assistance, language editing, administrative support, data collection, or funding acquisition should be clearly identified with the contributor's permission.
Examples of contributorship include:
Technical or laboratory assistance.
Statistical or data analysis support.
Language editing or proofreading.
Administrative or project coordination.
Funding acquisition or resource support.
Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing to the Editorial Office with a detailed explanation and the written consent of all listed and proposed authors. Such requests will be evaluated in accordance with COPE guidance and may require additional documentation before approval.
The journal does not permit guest, honorary, gift, or ghost authorship. Suspected authorship disputes or misconduct will be investigated in accordance with COPE and ICMJE recommendations. The Editorial Office reserves the right to reject a manuscript or take appropriate post-publication action, including corrections or retractions, where authorship misconduct is confirmed.
