Generative AI Policy

The Journal of International Marketing and Marketing Research (JIMMR) recognizes the growing role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing and research. The journal adopts a transparent and responsible approach to the use of such technologies in accordance with international publishing ethics and COPE guidance.

 

Permitted Use of Generative AI

Authors may use Generative AI tools for limited purposes, including:

 

  • Language editing and grammar improvement
  • Improving readability and clarity of text
  • Assisting in formatting references or manuscript structure
  • Supporting data organization and visualization (with proper verification)

 

All AI-assisted content must be carefully reviewed and validated by the authors.

 

Prohibited Use of Generative AI

Generative AI tools must NOT be used for:

 

  • Writing or generating substantive research content without human oversight
  • Creating, altering, or fabricating research data or results
  • Generating citations or references that do not exist
  • Replacing authors’ intellectual contribution or critical analysis

 

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for:

 

  • The accuracy, integrity, and originality of the manuscript
  • Any content generated or assisted by AI tools
  • Ensuring that AI use does not violate ethical publishing standards

 

Use of AI does not reduce author accountability in any form.

 

Disclosure Requirement

If Generative AI tools have been used in any stage of manuscript preparation, authors must:

 

  • Clearly disclose the name of the tool used
  • Specify the purpose of its use in the manuscript (e.g., language editing, formatting)
  • Ensure transparency in the Methods or Acknowledgment section where applicable

 

Editorial and Reviewer Use of AI

 

  • Editors and reviewers must not use AI tools to evaluate confidential manuscript content
  • Manuscript confidentiality must be strictly maintained
  • Any use of AI for administrative or supportive tasks must comply with ethical and privacy standards

 

Ethical Compliance

This policy aligns with international publishing ethics and COPE recommendations to ensure:

 

  • Transparency in research publication
  • Protection of intellectual integrity
  • Prevention of misuse of AI-generated content

 

Policy Updates

As AI technologies evolve, JIMMR reserves the right to update this policy to reflect best practices in scholarly publishing.
