The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the Declaration of Helsinki to ensure that the rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of research participants are fully protected. Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate informed consent before conducting research involving human participants or publishing identifiable personal information.
Written informed consent must be obtained from all participants, or from their legally authorized representatives where applicable, before the commencement of the study. For case reports, clinical photographs, videos, or any information that could identify an individual, explicit consent for publication must also be obtained.
Authors should ensure that:
Written informed consent has been obtained from all participants.
Consent includes permission for publication where applicable.
Participants have been informed about the purpose and nature of the research.
Copies of consent documentation are retained and made available upon request.
The data and information of individuals, including information obtained through a doctor–patient relationship, must be handled with the highest levels of confidence and discretion. Personal identifiers should not be disclosed unless they are scientifically essential and written permission has been obtained. Every effort should be made to protect participant privacy and maintain confidentiality throughout the research and publication process.
Authors must clearly state within the manuscript that informed consent was obtained where required. The Editorial Office may request supporting documentation during the editorial or peer-review process to verify compliance. The journal reserves the right to reject any manuscript that fails to meet informed consent requirements or does not adequately protect the rights, privacy, and confidentiality of research participants in accordance with COPE and ICMJE guidance.
