Human and Animal Rights Policy

Research Involving Human Participants

The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) is committed to protecting the rights, dignity, safety, and privacy of human participants involved in research. The journal follows the ethical recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Authors must ensure that all studies involving human participants have received prior approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee and that written informed consent has been obtained where applicable.

Authors should ensure that:

  • Ethical approval was obtained before commencing the study.

  • Written informed consent was obtained from participants or their legal representatives.

  • Participant privacy and confidentiality are fully protected.

  • Identifiable information or clinical images are published only with explicit written consent.

Research Involving Animals

Research involving animals must be conducted in accordance with internationally accepted standards for the ethical care and use of laboratory animals. Authors should ensure that animal welfare is protected throughout the study and that unnecessary pain, suffering, or distress is minimized.

Authors should ensure that:

  • Animal studies have received approval from the appropriate ethics committee.

  • National and institutional animal welfare regulations have been followed.

  • The minimum number of animals necessary was used.

  • Humane care and ethical treatment of animals were maintained throughout the research.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editorial Office may request supporting ethical documentation during the editorial or peer-review process to verify compliance with ethical standards. Manuscripts that fail to comply with accepted human or animal research ethics, or do not meet the recommendations of COPE and ICMJE, may be rejected at any stage of the editorial or publication process. The journal is committed to publishing research that respects the rights, welfare, and dignity of both human participants and animals.
