Conflicts of Interest Policy

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) is committed to maintaining transparency, impartiality, and integrity throughout the editorial and publication process. The journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), requiring all authors, reviewers, editors, and Editorial Board members to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could influence the preparation, review, or publication of a manuscript.

Individuals should disclose any:

  • Financial relationships or funding support.

  • Employment or institutional affiliations.

  • Consultancy, advisory, or board memberships.

  • Personal or professional relationships.

  • Patents, intellectual property, or commercial interests.

  • Any other circumstances that could influence objectivity.

Author Responsibilities

Authors must include a Conflict of Interest Statement within their manuscript, declaring all relevant financial and non-financial interests. Where no competing interests exist, authors should clearly state that "The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest." Authors must also disclose all sources of funding and describe the role of the funding organization, if any, in the design, conduct, analysis, or publication of the research.

Responsibilities of Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect their impartiality. Individuals with a conflict should decline to handle or review the manuscript, and the Editorial Office will assign the submission to another qualified editor or reviewer to ensure an independent and unbiased evaluation.

Editors and reviewers are expected to:

  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.

  • Avoid personal or professional bias.

  • Recuse themselves where a conflict exists.

  • Make decisions based solely on scientific merit.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editorial Office may request additional disclosures or supporting information whenever necessary. Failure to disclose relevant conflicts of interest may result in manuscript rejection, publication of a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, in accordance with the recommendations of COPE and ICMJE. The journal is committed to ensuring that all editorial decisions are transparent, objective, and free from inappropriate influence.
